This Thursday, we will all come together to commemorate Arthur Guinness for signing the lease on the iconic brewery on St. James Gate in 1759. The global launch of the celebrations in 2009 was so successful, that Arthur’s Day has now become an annual fest

The celebrations will begin with a toast to Arthur Guinness at 5:59pm and will be continued as people come together to experience live music events, which will be held in every corner of Ireland, including local pubs.

Last year, Arthur’s Day was celebrated with a blast as many pubs, clubs and venues were packed with prodigious acts. Internationally renowned musicians like Ed Sheeran, The Stereophonics, Scissor Sisters, Paolo Nutini, Aloe Blacc, Calvin Harris and Paloma Faith performed across the country.

This year, you can expect an even more spectacular Arthur’s Day, as Guinness has announced more than 500 free music events to take place in local pubs across all 32 counties. It promises to be an outstanding night full of surprises, and you won’t know who may walk into your local pub until the night itself comes.

Among the headlining acts confirmed for this year’s Arthur’s Day are Mumford & Sons, Fatboy Slim, Example, Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, Primal Scream, Texas, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Amy MacDonald, Professor Green and many more. You can also be sure to see some home grown talent among the acts, including The Original Rudeboys, The Riptide Movement, Hudson Taylor, Leaders of Men, The Funeral suits, Wonder Villains and Dublin Gospel Choir.

Guinness also announced eight Arthur’s Day TV Specials, which will be recorded in local pubs in Cork, Dublin and Belfast. The performances will be televised on national and international TV, and will also be available on YouTube later this year.
